I wanted to do something different, so I grabbed my camera and headed towards Aylmer through Chemin Pink, I had never done that before!
Can't say I fully recommend this route unless you're mainly focused in a great workout. The Chemin Pink is hard, very boring, long, and full of fast cars. It's still interesting nonetheless and some descents can be quite fast!
If you're looking for a perfect 40k cycling route in Ottawa, Aylmer is the one you've been searching for! Trust me, it's not an exaggeration - this route is truly exceptional. With smooth, paved roads and optional parallel gravel sections, it's ideal for cyclists of all skill levels.
Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning scenery and plenty of great spots to take a break and soak it all in. And if you're up for a detour, why not head over to Gatineau and explore even more of the beautiful region?
After your ride, treat yourself to some Patate Lou-Lou, and don't forget to ask for their famous deep-fried cheese curds. And if you're cycling during the summer months, keep an eye out for a pizza truck in the parking lot of Parc Mousette - it's the perfect way to refuel after a long ride.
If you're lucky enough to be in the area during fireworks season, Aylmer is a great spot to catch the show. Just be sure to bring some strong lights for the ride home!
